 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND SCOPE OF WORK

Qualifications:
Applicants are required to have four years of experience or a combination of college and experience. A person shall qualify for certification licensure by meeting one of the following requirements: (1) Four year construction-related degree from an accredited college (equivalent to three years experience) and one year proven experience in the construction, repair, water treatment and servicing of swimming pools. (2) One year of experience as a foreman and not less than 3 years of credits for any accredited college-level courses. (3) One year experience as a workman, one year proven experience as a foreman and two years of credits for any accredited college-level courses. (4) Two years experience as a workman, one year experience as a foreman and one year of credits for any accredited college-level courses (5) Four years experience as a workman or foreman of which at least one year must have been as a foreman.(6) Holding an active certified Florida contractor’s license as provided in Section 489.111(2)(c)4-6, Florida Statutes.

 

Scope of Work:

A "swimming pool/spa servicing contractor" means a contractor whose scope of work involves the servicing and repair of any swimming pool or hot tub or spa. The scope of such work may include any necessary piping and repairs, replacement and repair of existing equipment, or installation of new additional equipment as necessary. The scope of such work includes:

  • the reinstallation of tile and coping, repair and replacement of all piping, filter equipment, and chemical feeders of any type, replastering, reconstruction of decks, and reinstallation or addition of pool heaters;

  • the installation, construction, modification, substantial or complete disassembly, or replacement of equipment permanently attached to and associated with the pool or spa for the purpose of water treatment or cleaning of the pool or spa requires licensure; and

  • however, the usage of such equipment for the purposes of water treatment or cleaning shall not require licensure unless the usage involves construction, modification, substantial or complete disassembly, or replacement of such equipment.
