- In order to obtain a license you must pass all of the required examinations for your specialty. Division I contractors (General, Building, and Residential) must pass three examinations: Business & Finance, Contract Administration, and Project Management. Division II contractors (all other specialties) must pass two examinations: Business and Finance and General Trade Knowledge.
- The paper/pencil examinations are given in three locations simultaneously: Tallahassee, Orlando, and Miami. The construction examinations are administered over a two-day period. Day 1 is a 4 hour and 30 minute session starting at 11:00 AM. Day 2 is composed of a 4 hour and 30 minute AM session and a 4 hour and 30 minute PM session with reporting times at 7:00 AM and 1:30 PM. If the examination contains pilot test questions then additional time will be added to each session. The administrations normally take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday near the middle of the following months: February, April, June, August, October, and December. Examinations with large candidate populations are offered at all six administrations while examinations with smaller populations are only offered in February, June and October.
